(credit: Benj Edwards \/ Ars Technica)<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<div><a name=\"page-1\" \/><\/div>\n<p>Over the weekend, experimenters discovered that OpenAI&#8217;s new chatbot, <a href=\"https:\/\/arstechnica.com\/information-technology\/2022\/12\/openai-invites-everyone-to-test-new-ai-powered-chatbot-with-amusing-results\/\">ChatGPT<\/a>, can hallucinate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.engraved.blog\/building-a-virtual-machine-inside\/\">simulations of Linux shells<\/a> and imagine <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/gfodor\/status\/1599220837999345664\">dialing into a bulletin board system<\/a> (BBS).
