More than a third of the global economy will see two consecutive quarters of negative growth, while the three largest economies \u2014 the United States, the European Union, and China \u2014 will continue to slow, the report said.<\/p>\n

In its report, the IMF laid out three major events currently hindering growth: Russia\u2019s invasion of Ukraine, the cost-of-living crisis, and China\u2019s economic slowdown.<\/p>\n

The war in Ukraine continues to \u201cpowerfully destabilize the global economy,\u201d according to the report, with its impacts causing a \u201csevere\u201d energy crisis in Europe, along with destruction in Ukraine itself.<\/p>\n

The IMF also highlighted that the risk of monetary, fiscal, or financial policy \u201cmiscalibration\u201d had \u201crisen sharply,\u201d while the world economy \u201cremains historically fragile\u201d and financial markets are \u201cshowing signs of stress.\u201d The energy crisis is also weighing heavily on the world\u2019s economies, particularly in Europe, and it \u201cis not a transitory shock,\u201d according to the report.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe geopolitical re-alignment of energy supplies in the wake of Russia\u2019s war against Ukraine is broad and permanent,\u201d the report added.<\/p>\n
