Their projects awed and inspired us. Yesterday STEM advocate and television host Fig O\u2019Reilly helped us celebrate each and every one of these creators in our online event. <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/gallery\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Check out the gallery to see all the amazing projects<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>During the celebration, Fig also revealed which projects were picked by the special judges as their favourites from among the <strong>2092 projects<\/strong> in this year\u2019s showcase gallery. Let\u2019s meet the special judges and check out their picks!<\/p>\n<h2>Ruth Amos\u2019s favourites<\/h2>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"418\" height=\"418\" src=\"https:\/\/www.prime-wow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Ruth-Amos-picture.JPG.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-80022\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Ruth Amos is an inventor, entrepreneur, and EduTuber. She co-founded the #GirlsWithDrills movement and \u2018Kids Invent Stuff\u2019, a YouTube channel where 5- to 11-year-olds see their invention ideas become reality with the help of engineers. <\/p>\n<p>Here are <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/events\/cp-2022\/judges\/ruth-amos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ruth\u2019s favourites<\/a>:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" src=\"https:\/\/www.prime-wow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Ruth.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-80015\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Hardware<\/strong> project <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/projects\/2662\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Oura<\/a>, made by Angelina and Catherine in the United States. Oura is an indoor air quality monitoring device that is tailorable, portable, and inexpensive. Ruth especially liked this project because she saw \u201c[s]ome great prototyping and use of data.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Games<\/strong> project <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/projects\/4069\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Egg Dog<\/a>, made by Oakley and Alex from a Code Club in Australia. In the game, players explore for collectibles and fight off enemies as they try to find the exit for the next level. Ruth said that Egg Dog was a \u201c[r]eally fun game, they obviously learnt a lot in the process of making the game.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Web<\/strong> project <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/projects\/4336\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AllerG<\/a>, made by Noah from a CoderDojo in the United States. AllerG is an accessible and crowdsourced database of menu allergens for people with food allergies. Ruth said, \u201cThe whole project was very well thought out\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Mobile Apps<\/strong> project <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/projects\/4673\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EcoSnap<\/a>, made by Uma and Bella in the United States. EcoSnap serves as an all-in-one toolkit for anyone hoping to help the environment. Ruth said, \u201cYou really thought about the user and changing perceptions.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Scratch<\/strong> project <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/projects\/4125\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Trash-Collector<\/a>, made by Rajan in the United Kingdom. In Rajan\u2019s game, players take on the role of a scuba diver who needs to collect trash in the ocean. Ruth said, \u201cI can\u2019t wait to see more levels; it\u2019s quite addictive!\u201d<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Advanced Programming<\/strong> project <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/projects\/2394\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Climate Change Detector<\/a>, made by Arnav from a CoderDojo in India. The project is a data dashboard and platform to track pollution. Ruth said, \u201cI love that you can change parameters and see the effect that would have.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Shawn Brown\u2019s favourites<\/h2>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"418\" height=\"418\" src=\"https:\/\/www.prime-wow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Shawn-Brown-.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-80024\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Shawn Brown is an award-winning engineer, designer, and YouTuber. He\u2019s also a practical pioneer for neurodiversity and innovation \u2014 raising awareness of learning differences and promoting science, engineering, and invention to young people. Together with Ruth, Shawn co-runs the YouTube channel \u2018Kids Invent Stuff.\u2019 <\/p>\n<p>Here are <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/events\/cp-2022\/judges\/shawn-brown\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Shawn\u2019s favourites<\/a>:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" src=\"https:\/\/www.prime-wow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Shawn.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-80025\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Hardware<\/strong> project <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/projects\/4044\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Flow On the Go<\/a>, made by Donal from a Code Club in the United Kingdom. Flow On the Go is a COVID-19 lateral flow test holder with a built-in camera that takes a picture of the test results after 15 minutes and sends a photo of the results via email. Shawn said, \u201cI\u2019ve absolutely been late for things before because I forgot to leave time to do a lateral flow test and your invention totally solves that problem in a really clever and effective way.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Games<\/strong> project <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/projects\/2708\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Iron Defence<\/a>, made by James in the United Kingdom. Iron Defence is a tower defence game where players defend against waves of enemies in a steampunk-themed assault. Shawn said, \u201cAmazing work on seizing the opportunity to learn a new coding language\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Web<\/strong> project <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/projects\/3830\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">School Management System<\/a>, made by Nebyu Daniel in Ethiopia. The project is a system used to store centralised data for a school. Shawn said, \u201cThe level of detail and the amount of different areas you\u2019ve considered is really impressive!\u201d<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Mobile Apps<\/strong> project <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/projects\/3814\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">RecyBuddy<\/a>, made by Ryan in the United States. RecyBuddy is designed to assist and teach recycling to all ages. Shawn said, \u201cI love how you\u2019ve considered and implemented three distinct input options, giving the application a really high level of accessibility for users of a wide range of abilities and ages.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Scratch<\/strong> project <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/projects\/2426\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Learning Is Fun<\/a>, made by Mihir Ram in India. Mihir\u2019s project is about making learning about science and the environment more enjoyable. Shawn said, \u201cI got pretty addicted to playing Garbage Mania, and the timing was perfect to make it just stressful enough to have to think and grab the item in the right bin in time before you miss it!\u201d<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Advanced Programming<\/strong> project <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/projects\/4770\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dog Smell Training Device<\/a>, made by Roland in the United Kingdom. Roland\u2019s project is designed to train dogs to identify different smells. Shawn said, \u201cWell done on starting with achievable bitesize parts and then building it up from there\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Richa Shrivastava\u2019s favourites<\/h2>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.prime-wow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Richa.jpe\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-80026\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Richa Shrivastava is the Director of Maker\u2019s Asylum. It is India\u2019s first community makerspace that fosters innovation through purpose-based learning, based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. <\/p>\n<p>Here are <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/events\/cp-2022\/judges\/richa-shrivastava\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Richa\u2019s favourites<\/a>:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" src=\"https:\/\/www.prime-wow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Richa.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-80027\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Hardware <\/strong>project <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/projects\/3890\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EleVoc<\/a>, made by Chinmayi in India. Chinmayi\u2019s device determines the proximity and behaviour of elephants by classifying their vocalisations. Richa said, \u201cI personally loved the project because it addressed a problem statement that you do not see in cities but is common in villages and forest areas where humans and animals inhabit together.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Games<\/strong> project <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/projects\/3619\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Runaway Nose<\/a>, made by Harshit from a CoderDojo in Ireland. Harshit\u2019s game uses facial recognition and players have to think (and act!) fast to score points. Richa said, \u201cI have never played anything like this before and I can see that it can be really addictive.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Web<\/strong> project <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/projects\/3509\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Our Planet, Our Impact<\/a>, made by Amaury from a CoderDojo in Belgium. This multilingual website calculates the user\u2019s environmental footprint. Richa chose this project because \u201cthe calculators were a really cool way to really bring out the impact of plastic waste that we create!\u201d<\/li>\n<li>The<strong> Mobile Apps<\/strong> project <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/projects\/2534\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Watey<\/a>, made by Yuuka, Akari, Otowa, and Lila from a CoderDojo in Japan. Watey helps families to save water easily and enjoyably. Richa said, \u201cI loved the element of family bonding and competition that could motivate people to use water with scarcity.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>The<strong> Scratch<\/strong> project <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/projects\/4118\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nature\u2019s Savior Bilgin<\/a>, made by \u00c7a\u011fatay and Mert from a Code Club in Turkey. It\u2019s a game to teach players about the environment. Richa said, \u201cI personally really loved the fact that the project was focussed on the environment and also problems that we see in real life almost every other day.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Advanced Programming<\/strong> project <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/projects\/3328\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jarvis<\/a>, made by Siddhant in India. Jarvis is a personal assistant. Richa said, \u201cI always wanted a personal Jarvis and this was so cool to see!\u201d\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Elaine Atherton\u2019s favourites<\/h2>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" src=\"https:\/\/www.prime-wow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Elaine-Atherton-500x333-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-80028\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Elaine Atherton is Director of Scratch Education Collaborative. Elaine was first introduced to Scratch as an instructional coach while working with teachers in North Carolina. \u201cIt was amazing to see the kids so excited about what they were creating. I wanted to help them transfer that same energy to designing, making, and sharing other things, too \u2014 I wanted them to stretch their creativity.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Here are <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/events\/cp-2022\/judges\/elaine-atherton\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Elaine\u2019s favourites<\/a>:<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" src=\"https:\/\/www.prime-wow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Elaine.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-80029\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Hardware<\/strong> project <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/projects\/2683\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CubeSpeedee Timer<\/a>, made by Tom from a CoderDojo in the United Kingdom. Tom\u2019s project is a DIY timing device for solving puzzle cubes. Elaine said the project was \u201cfun, playful, creative, and challenging!\u201d<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Games<\/strong> project <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/projects\/4460\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ninjas<\/a>, made by Jaiden and Eli from a Code Club in Australia. Ninjas is an open-world action-adventure game. Elaine said, \u201cThe transitions between the different worlds are really cool\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Web<\/strong> project <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/projects\/4095\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ubex Site Creator<\/a>, made by Menagi from a Code Club in Romania. Ubex makes it easy for anyone to create their own website. Elaine said, \u201cIt is clear to see how you thought about how to use your passion for coding to create something for your peers.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Mobile Apps<\/strong> project <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/projects\/4237\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Green Nature For You<\/a>, made by Iana and Cristina in Moldova. The app lets users report when trash cans are full. Elaine said, \u201c[Y]ou thoughtfully consider accessibility and access needs of those who may use it\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Scratch<\/strong> project <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/projects\/4145\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fun Relaxing Project<\/a>, made by Konstantin from a CoderDojo in Bulgaria. Konstantin\u2019s game is to help players relax while watching beautiful geometric shapes and colours. Elaine said, \u201cThe colors and patterns are truly relaxing\u201d.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The<strong> Advanced Programming<\/strong> project <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/projects\/3621\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DeepFusion<\/a>, made by Justin in the United States. DeepFusion is a web app that provides a graphical method for creating, training, and testing neural networks. Elaine said, \u201cYour presentation is funny, thoughtful, and clever.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Broadcom Coding with Commitment recognition<\/h2>\n<p>Broadcom Foundation has partnered with us for Coolest Projects Global to encourage young people who are solving problems that impact their communities. Their projects could relate to health, sanitation, energy, climate change, or other challenges set out in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/awards\/coding-with-commitment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Broadcom Coding with Commitment<\/a> illuminates how coding is a language, skill set, and invaluable tool for college and careers.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-medium\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"300\" height=\"193\" src=\"https:\/\/www.prime-wow.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Broadcom-coding-with-commitment-300x193-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-80008\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Broadcom Coding with Commitment recognition goes to <a href=\"https:\/\/online.coolestprojects.org\/projects\/3564\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">A Guide to Climate Change<\/a>, a website created by Sabrina in the United Kingdom. Sabrina\u2019s site not only provides vital information about the effects of climate change, but also gives users a visual to show how important it is to lower our carbon footprint.
